External Input Peak Detector Calibration

Description

This calibration is used to calibrate the positive trip level of the EXT1 and EXT2 peak detectors located on the
A17 Synthesizer (Option 501, 502, 503, 504). The calibration generates DAC values for the modulation
comparator DACs which provide a voltage to the window comparator operational amplifiers. When the peak
detector level DACs are set correctly, the overmodulation indicator will trigger whenever the voltage to the
EXT1/EXT2 input is greater than 1.03 V. The resulting DAC values are saved as a calibration constant in the
signal generator’s firmware.

Required Test Equipment

• Agilent 3458A Option 002 digital multimeter

• Agilent 33120A function generator
