WARNING !

SECURE THE PEDESTAL AND PUMP HEAD ASSEMBLY TO AN
APPROPRIATE HOIST TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY OR DAMAGE.

Note: On certain splined shaft assemblies you may need to remove a retaining ring
at the base of the pedestal, near the oil seal. (See Figure 6a-10: “Pedestal Mount
Pump Shaft Oil Seals (2), 40 / 5- FB-U and 80 FC-U Series” on page 106.)

Disassemble the pedestal from the pump head:

and 80 FC-U Series” on page 106.)

For 40 FB-U - remove four (4) 9/16”-12 screws and sealing washers from
within the pump head.

For 80 FC-U - remove four (4) 5/8”-11 screws from the pedestal flange.

Using an appropriate hoist for added support, slide the pump head and
shaft assembly straight back to remove the shaft assembly and bearings
from within the pedestal.

Remove (press–out) the pump shaft / pedestal oil seal and discard. Oil
seals cannot be reused. To replace, order Hale p/n: 296-2070-00-0.

6.

Remove the bearing extension cover from the pump head assembly -

For 40 FB-U - remove four (4) 1/4”-20 screws.

For 80 FC-U - remove four (4) 3/8”-16 screws.

7.

Remove (pull) the pump shaft assembly, with both bearings, from the pump
head. This exposes the oil seal.

8.

Remove (press out) the pump shaft oil seal and discard. Oil seals cannot
be reused. To replace, order:

For 40 FB-U - Hale p/n: 296-2060-00-0.

For 80 FC-U - Hale p/n: 296-2090-00-0.

9.

Inspect all parts for excessive wear, chips, scoring or other damage. Repair
and/or replace accordingly.

10.

Also drain the pedestal of all fluid and clean out the reservoir.
