IMPORTANT !

AT INSTALLATION AND BEFORE OPERATING FOR THE FIRST TIME, OIL
MUST BE ADDED TO THE GEARBOX OR THE PEDESTAL TO THE APPROPRI-
ATE LEVELS. FOR THE PROPER OIL TO USE AND QUANTITY REQUIRED:

CHECK FLYWHEEL RUN OUT

Before mounting any Hale S.A.E. mounted pump end, the “RUNOUT”
(eccentricity) of the -

Flywheel pilot bearing bore

Drive disk pilot bore and mounting face

S.A.E. housing pilot bore and mounting face

MUST be checked to assure proper pump performance and bearing life.

S.A.E. Housing Pilot Bore

1.

Rigidly mount the base of a dial indicator near the out side of the fly-
wheel and orient the pointer perpendicular to the bore.

2.

Slowly rotate the engine crankshaft and note the location and reading
where the MINIMUM occurs.

3.

Continued to rotate the crankshaft and note MAXIMUM reading.

4.

The difference between the MINIMUM and MAXIMUM readings is the
total indicator reading (or TIR) and this must not exceed for:

S.A.E. #3 - 0.008” (0.203 mm) housings

S.A.E. #4 - 0.006” (0.152 mm) housings

S.A.E. #5 - 0.004” (0.102 mm) housings

5.

Rotate the crankshaft to the location of the MINIMUM reading again and
make sure the original reading did not change.
