Normal Operation

Front Panel Display

The Spider is equipped with a two-line display and a one-key keypad.
They are used for quick operational checks and basic setup. Their
convenience lies in the fact that using them requires no external
equipment, such as laptop computers or mobile phones.

Normally, the display shows:

SPIDER

Signal: G65%

Signal: G65%

indicates the current cellular phone signal strength;

the higher the signal number, the stronger the signal. As a rough rule-
of-thumb, a value of 25% and above is acceptable. Signal strength is
updated every 5 seconds. The

G

preceding the percentage value

indicates that GSM is the mobile network used by the Spider.

Value

??

or

“—“

indicates that there is no mobile phone coverage in

the present location, there is no valid SIM card inserted (GSM models
only
), or that the cellular phone module inside the Spider is not
responding (possibly because the antenna is not plugged in). It is a
normal indication during power-up and immediately following remote
access. It typically lasts less than 60 seconds. If, however, this
display persists, contact ADS Environmental Services.

During Web access using GPRS communication (i.e., remote
access), the display shows:
