5. Select the Use the following IP address radio button, and enter an appropriate IP address in the

IP Address field.

6. Press Tab and Windows XP enters a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0 automatically.

7. Click OK to accept your changes and OK again to close the Local Area Connection Properties

window.

Changing the IP Address in Windows 7

The following instructions are for Windows 7.0.

1. From the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel.

2. If you are viewing the Control Panel by Categories, select Network and Internet.

If you are viewing the Control Panel by icons, select Network and Sharing Center and continue
with step 5.

3. Click View network status and tasks in the Network Sharing Center group.

The middle of the displayed screens shows your active networks.

4. Within your active networks, click Local Area Connection to display the Local Area Connection

Status window.
