Modem Mode

Web Parameter

Modem Mode in the Operation Mode section of the Radio Setup page.

Network Type:

Both

Default Setting:

Endpoint

Options:

See below

Description:

The Network Type and Modem Mode options designate the method
FreeWave transceivers use to communicate with each other. FreeWave
Ethernet transceivers operate in a Gateway-to-Endpoint configuration. Before
the transceivers can operate together, they must be set up to properly
communicate.

In a standard configuration, the Gateway mode should be used on the end
which will be connected to the LAN. When setting up the transceiver,
remember that a number of parameters are controlled by the settings in the
Gateway. Therefore, deploying the Gateway on the communications end
where it is easier to access is strongly advised

This field is hidden in the configuration Web page when Global Changes are
enabled. For more information, see "Using the MultiPoint Gateway to Change
All Connected Transceivers" on page 21
.

Operation Mode

Description

Point-to-Point Gateway

Designates the transceiver as the Gateway in Point-to-Point mode. The
Gateway may call any or all Endpoints designated in its Call Book.

A quick method of identifying a Gateway is to power the transceiver. Prior
to establishing a communication link with an Endpoint or Repeater, all
three of the Gateway’s lower LEDs (CD, TX, CTS) are solid red.
