Read Stability

The parameter Read Stability (

RD-STA

) is set for the number of A/D cycles that must fall within the motion band

before the stability annunciator will light. The setting controls the motion band window length, by counting the
number of A/D cycles. When stability is determined, this same number of A/D cycles is now averaged through a
rolling filter to further enhance stability.

Read Motion

The parameter Read Motion (

RD-MOT

) is set for the number of A/D cycles that must consecutively exceed the

motion band setting, before motion is detected and the stability annunciator is turned off. For Legal for Trade
application this value should be set at 1 or 2, unless the motion band value is reduced to a lower value.

9.10 Analog Output Calibration

The following calibration procedure requires a multimeter to measure voltage or report output from the analog
output module. See Figure 3-15 for Analog Output menu structure.

The analog output must be calibrated after the indicator itself has been configured (see Section 3.0) and
calibrated (see Section 4.0
).

1. Enter configuration mode and go to the ALGOUT menu (see Figure 3-15).

Set source to GROSS or NET, depending on the weight value to be tracked by the analog output

Set OFFSET to 0% for 0–10V/0-20mA output, 20% for 2-100V/4–20 mA output

Set MIN to lowest weight value to be tracked by the analog output

Set MAX to highest weight value to be tracked by the analog output

2. Connect multimeter to analog output:

For voltage output, connect voltmeter leads to pins three and four

For current output, connect ammeter leads to pins one and two

3. Adjust zero calibration: Scroll to the TWZERO parameter. Check voltage or current reading on multimeter.

Press or to select the digit to edit and or to adjust the value of selected (flashing) digit to set the
zero value.

4. Adjust span calibration: Scroll to the TWSPAN parameter. Check voltage or current reading on multimeter.

Press or to select the digit to edit and or to adjust the value of selected (flashing) digit to set the
span value.

5. Final zero calibration: Return to the TWZERO parameter and verify that the zero calibration has not

drifted. Press or to select the digit to edit and or to adjust the value of selected (flashing) digit to
set the zero value.

6. Return to normal mode. Analog output function can be verified using test weights.

9.11 Test Mode

In addition to normal and setup modes, test mode provides a number of diagnostic functions for the 480, including:

Display raw A/D count

Reset configuration parameters to default values

Number of weighments over threshold

View the state of the digital inputs

Control the state of the digital outputs

Test the analog output

1. Enter configuration mode by removing the large fillister head screw from the back of the enclosure.

2. Then insert a nonconductive tool into the access hole and press the configuration switch. Indicator display

changes to show

CONFIG

.

3. Navigate over to

TEST

and then down into the

TEST

menu.

Figure 3-17 shows the Test Menu structure and Table 3-14 summarizes the test menu functions.
