7.

Set the BAND switch on the filter set to "All Pass".

8.

Move the RANGE switch on the filter set to "Hi" to switch
the filter set ON.

It takes approximately ten seconds to reach the specified
stability and measuring accuracy. During this period the
microprocessor in the filter set performs its self test
routine. For the first five seconds, the start up message
"CEL" is shown on the display, while some of the arrow
markers may also appear to indicate which of the locations
already contain stored octave data. During the second five
seconds, the message is changed to "CEL 296", and the
arrow markers Indicate which locations contain third
octave data. When the self test routine has been
completed satisfactorily, the start up message and arrows
disappear, and the LCD shows the "ALL" message (All
Pass) irrespective of the bandwidth set.

9.

Change the batteries If the "LOW BAT" message is
displayed.

10. Switch the sound level meter ON, check the batteries

according to its handbook, and replace them if necessary.

When the Instruments are connected via the interface, the
filter set must pass its Internal checks and be in operation
BEFORE the sound level meter is switched ON, otherwise
the "Remote Reset" (line 11) is held low on the sound level
meter, preventing operation of its microprocessor. The
filter set display now indicates the sound level plus "ALL".

11. Calibrate the Instrumentation arrangement according to

the Instructions given in the sound level meter handbook.

Normally, the filter set RANGE switch will be set to "Hi",
but if the instrument is being used with a CEL-493/3, /2N,
or /2
