which have a 100dB dynamic range, set the switch to "Lo"
if required.

The equipment is now ready for use with the low power
digital interface.

5.1.2 Operation of Manual Storage Facilities

When the CEL-296/3 Is connected to a sound level meter equipped
with the low power Interface, the selected centre frequency will be
shown on the right hand side of the display (correctly annotated for
either Hz or kHz), while the left side mimics the display on the meter.

Noise level values such as SPL, Lmax, Leq, LTm3, LTm5, LOSHA
LDOD, Or SEL (in dB) are transferred over the interface bus at half
second intervals, decoded within the CEL-296/3, and redisplayed on
the LCD next to the selected filter centre frequency. A very slight
time delay may be noticed between the two displays to allow the
digital data to be transferred which does not impair the correct
operation of the filter set In normal use.

The sound level meter display can also show other parameters such
as battery voltage, measurement duration, SEL event threshold
values. etc.. that are not sound parameters. At such times the dB
annotation at the extreme left end of the CEL-296/3 display will be
suppressed, and any readings should be Ignored.

Operate the manual storage facilities as follows.

1.

Connect and calibrate the measuring arrangement as
described in Section 5.1.1.

2.

Set the sound level meter to measure or compute the required
parameter according to the instructions in its handbook

3.

Set the filter set RANGE switch to "Hi", unless the instrument
is being used with a CEL-493/3, /2N, or /2 which have a
