7.

Move the filter set RANGE switch to "Hi" to switch the filter set
ON.

It takes approximately ten seconds to reach the specified
stability and measuring accuracy, during which period the
microprocessor in the filter set performs its self test routine.
For the first five seconds, the start up message "CEL" is
shown on the display, while some of the arrow markers may
also appear to indicate which of the locations already contain
stored octave data.

During the second five seconds, the message is changed to
"CEL 296", and the arrow markers indicate which locations
contain third octave data. When the self test routine has been
completed satisfactorily, the start up message and arrows dis-
appear, and the LCD shows only the "ALL" message (All
Pass) irrespective of the bandwidth set.

8.

If the "LOW BAT" message is displayed on the filter set,
change the batteries.

9.

Calibrate the instrumentation arrangement according to the
instructions given in the sound level meter handbook.

Note: On all these measuring instruments, except CEL-27513A, /2A,
/3C & /2C, and CEL-383/3A, /2A, /3C & /2C, a different calibration
level will exist between the sound level meter alone on A-weighted
or Linear and the sound level meter PLUS filter set on the same
setting. Usually it will be possible to adjust the CAL control on the
meter to compensate for the condition, however a 'k' factor may be
required in some cases.

The equipment is now ready for operation.

5.2.2 Operation as a Manually or Remotely Scanned Filter Set
