Replacing and Adding Internal Devices

Installing a hot-swap drive

If you are adding a drive to an empty drive slot, you must first remove the
air baffles from the drive carrier. If you are replacing an existing drive, remove
the old drive as described in “Removing a hot-swap drive” on page 36.

To install a hot-swap drive:

Follow the static electricity precautions in “Preventing static electricity
discharge” on page 25.

Remove the drive carrier as described in “Removing a hot-swap drive”
on page 36.

Remove the four screws that secure the air baffles to the drive carrier. If
you are removing an existing drive, the same four screws secure the old
drive to the carrier.
