INTELLIWIDE mode
This aspect ratio is designed to fill the 16:9 screen with a 4:3
image. The center of the picture is not stretched, and it gradually
stretches on the sides reaching the most extreme stretch at the far
edges of the picture. (non-linear scaling)
In addition, we apply a very slight vertical stretch uniformly (no
graduation) which results in a very small amount of cropping of
the top and bottom of the image area.
Thus a 4:3 image is transformed into a 16:9 image with minimal
distortion.
