the container in order to induce a potential equalization between medium
and PE. If the flow rate in the container is high, a static potential may
occur locally. Place in this case the ground electrode near to the
transmitter.

The power supply is connected whereby the OXY 1100 sensor

points upward in the open air for two minutes. This generates a

zero point adjustment of the service life counter of the sensor. The

data of the service life counter can be read at the signal converter

(USC) or through HART

®

communication.

2.

Place the transmitter such that the sensor OXY 1100 points

downward outside of the medium. Leave it for 1 hour in this position

so that the sensor can stabilize.

3.

Calibrate the sensor in accordance with instructions (

section

Calibration

).

Place the transmitter such that the sensor OXY 1100 points

downward outside of the medium (refer to

Calibration, page 106

).

2.

Switch on the signal converter USC 5000/7000.

3.

Leave the transmitter for at least 1 hour in this position so that the

sensor can stabilize before it is calibrated.

4.

Check the default settings and apply changes if necessary.

5.

Reset the operating hours counter.

6.

Calibrate the sensor in accordance with instructions (

section

Calibration

).

7.

When the calibration process is complete, insert the transmitter into

the medium to be measured.
