If the P-VOL of the Cnt Ac-J Z pair in the status of Duplex or the Pending Duplex is assigned
to the T-VOL of the relationship of FC Z, the data on FC Z is copied to the P-VOL of Cnt Ac-J
Z. When the data copy operation to the Cnt Ac-J Z P-VOL is completed, the initial copy
operation to the Cnt Ac-J Z S-VOL will be started. Then, the information about the Cnt Ac-J Z
pair under which the initial copy operation is started will be displayed in the Histories window.
Until the initial copy operation will be finished the Cnt Ac-J Z pair stays the Pending Duplex
status. However, if the T-VOL of the FC Z relationship is assigned to the Cnt Ac-J Z P-VOL in
the Pending Duplex status, the another initial copy operation which is already being processed
is started. Therefore, the information about which the initial copy operation is started may be
displayed in the History window. When the FC Z data has been copied to the Cnt Ac-J Z
S-VOL by this copy operation, the information about the completion of initial copy operation
are displayed in the Histories window.
3DC multi target configuration
When sharing an FC Z T-VOL with the P-VOL for a 3DC multi target configuration, before performing
the FC Z copy operation, you must suspend one of the 3DC pairs. In this case, use the following
workflow:
1.
Suspend the Cnt Ac-J Z or Cnt Ac-S Z pair.
2. Perform the FC Z copy operation from the S-VOL to the T-VOL.
3. Wait until the non-suspended 3DC pair completes the resulting update and is in DUPLEX status.
4. Resynchronize the suspended 3DC pair.
Cautions
•
If Cnt Ac-S Z is used with FC Z, specify Track as the unit of storage for the differential data of
the Cnt Ac-S Z pair.
•
If Cnt Ac-S Z incorporates with FC Z, create the Cnt Ac-S Z pair without using the Cnt Ac-S Z
consistency group function.
•
The data copied to the Cnt Ac-S Z P-VOL or Cnt Ac-J Z P-VOL by FC Z is asynchronously copied
with the initial copy operation to the Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL or Cnt Ac-J Z S-VOL. Based on the
speed of the data copy to Cnt Ac-S Z S-VOL or Cnt Ac-J Z S-VOL, the concordance rate of the
Cnt Ac-S Z pair and Cnt Ac-J Z pair is calculated. Based on the copy processing performing
order of the FC Z relationship, initial copy processing of the Cnt Ac-S Z pair, and initial copy
processing of the Cnt Ac-J Z pair, performing of the Cnt Ac-S Z or Cnt Ac-J Z initial copy
operation may be forced to wait. In this case, the concordance speed of the Cnt Ac-S Z or
Cnt Ac-J Z pair may slow.

If the delta resync operation incorporates with FC Z, use the delta resync operation function,
which is supported for the remote command device function.
•
The relationship with FC Z can be created in the status under which the Cnt Ac-S Z initial copy
operation can be performed. If the P-VOL of the Cnt Ac-S Z pair in the status of Duplex or
Pending Duplex is assigned to the T-VOL of the relationship with FC Z, the initial copy operation
of Cnt Ac-S Z is performed. However, if the relationship of FC Z is created in the status under
which the Cnt Ac-S Z initial copy operation cannot be performed, the Cnt Ac-S Z pair may
be suspended.
Thin Provisioning Z
•
THP V-VOLs can be used for either the Cnt Ac-J Z P-VOL or S-VOL, or both P-VOL and S-VOL.
•
Only OPEN-V THP V-VOLs can be used as journal volumes; only 3390-A volumes can be used
as a THP V-VOLs.
•
THP V-VOLs cannot be used for Cnt Ac-J Z journal volumes.
