Table 6 System option modes (continued)

Description

Mode

With mode 474 set to ON, improves the initial copy time for a Cnt Ac-J Z pair, by
using the Cnt Ac-S Z initial copy operation.

474

This operation requires use of a script with the following operations:

Cnt Ac-J Z initial copy operation, with "None" specified for the Initial Copy
parameter.

Split the Cnt Ac-J Z pair.

Cnt Ac-S Z initial copy operation, using the split Cnt Ac-J Z pair volumes.

Delete the Cnt Ac-S Z pair.

Resynchronize the Cnt Ac-J Z pair.

Using BCM improves performance.

Mode 474 OFF: Operations run normally.

Enables the delta resync operation.

506

Mode 506 ON: The delta resync operation is performed if there are no update I/Os.

Mode 506 OFF: The copy processing of all data is performed if there is no update
I/Os.

Prevents pair operations of Cnt Ac-S Z, Cnt Ac-J Z, or BC Z via an online command
device.

548

This SOM applies to both primary and secondary systems.

ON: Pair operations of Cnt Ac-S Z, Cnt Ac-J Z, or BC Z via an online command device
are not available. SSB=0x64fb is output.

OFF (default): Pair operations of Cnt Ac-S Z, Cnt Ac-J Z, or BC Z via an online command
device are available. SIM is output.

Notes:

1.

When a command device is used online, if a script containing an operation via that
command device has been executed, the script may stop if this SOM is set to ON.
As described in the Business Continuity Manager User's Guide, the script must be
performed with the command device offline.

2.

This SOM applies to Business Continuity Manager operations on MVS hosts.

Restricts copy or restore operations performed in the background to protect host I/O
performance related to the secondary storage system.

690

Mode 690 ON: Copy or restore is restricted when the Write Pending Rate on the
secondary system reaches or exceeds 60% (of cache memory capacity).

When the Write Pending Rate of the restore journal volume’s CLPR reaches or exceeds
60%, copy operations are restricted.

When the Write Pending Rate of the S-VOL’s CLPR reaches or exceeds 60%, restore
operations are restricted.

Mode 690 OFF: Copy or restore is not restricted when the Write Pending Rate on the
secondary system reaches or exceeds 60.

Changes CM capacity allocated to MPBs with different workloads.

908

Mode 908 ON: Difference in CM allocation capacity among MPBs with different
workloads is large.

Mode 908 OFF (default): Difference in CM allocation capacity among MPBs with
different workloads is small.

Notes:

1.

Apply this SOM to CLPRs used only for Cnt Ac-J Z JNLGs.

2.

Since CM capacity allocated to MPBs with low workload is small, the performance
is affected by a sudden increase in workload.

3.

This SOM is effective for a CLPR. Therefore, when setting this SOM to ON/OFF,
select target "LPRXX (XX=00 to 31)". For example, even when CLPR0 is defined
(CLPR1 to 31 are not defined), select "LPR00" first and then set the SOM to ON/OFF.
