How HMI server components start and stop

Use the HMI Server Properties dialog box to specify which components in a network
station application will start automatically, when the HMI server starts running.

In a network station application, the HMI server loads and the specified components start
running when the FactoryTalk View SE Client connects to the application. When the
client stops running, the HMI server is unloaded, and the specified shutdown macro is run.
