(3) Zipper teeth

@ Zipper tape

(D Wrong side (Bottorn side) of fabric

pfj Fold back the left seam allowance. Turn under the right

seam allowance to form a 1/8” (0.2 to 0.3 cm) fold.

Place the zipper teeth® next to this fold and pin in place

l To sew the left side of the zipper, set the zipper foot on

the left side of the needle. Lower the zipper foot on the

top side at the bottom of the zipper so that the needle
pierces the fabric next to the fold and the zipper tape©.
Sew through all layers next to the fold. Stop just before
the zipper foot reaches the slider on the zipper tape
about 2" (5 cm) from the top of the zipper. Lower the
needle slightly into the fabric, raise the foot.

¡U Open the zipper to move the slider® behind

the zipper foot

Lower the foot and stitch the remainder of the
seam, making sure the fold is even,

® Right side (Top side) of fabric

Ul Close the zipper and spread the fabric fiat with

the right side (top side) of fabric ©facing up.

I Set the zipper foot on the right side of the needle.

Guide the edge of the foot along the zipper teeth®
and stitch through the garment and zipper

tape.

d] Stop at about 2” (5 cm) from the top of the zipper. Lower

the needle slightly into the fabric, raise the foot and

remove the basting stitches along zipper opening.
Open the zipper to move the slider @ behind the zipper
foot.,

Lower the foot and stitch the remainder of the seam,
making sure the fold is even.
