Chapter 12 CEC Compliance Testing

Overview

This chapter provides an overview of the CEC compliance test and describes how to set
up the compliance test.

The Test Management Environment (TME) has been identified as an integral test system
of the CEC Compliance Test Tool (CEC-CTT) recommended in the CEC Compliance Test
Specification. The Test Management Environment software provides an expert-like system
with a graphical interface. Commands necessary to initiate specific tests are issued
automatically by the TME software.

The TME software is java-based and runs on a standard Windows PC. Application control
is established through a standard Ethernet IP connection to the 882CA test instrument.
Through the TME software, the 882CA test instrument can be quickly configured to
emulate a CEC-capable HDMI source or sink device to support compliance testing. When
configured to emulate a CEC device, the 882CA can send CEC query messages or issue
commands to connected devices under test and it will also respond to CEC messages
sent from a device connected for compliance testing.

When testing HDMI source devices the generator (analyzer) will emulate a sink device
such as an HDTV. When testing sink devices the 882 generator will emulate a source
device such as a set top box (STB).

Note: The TME is an option available on generators with release 2.2.3 or higher. You must
have the TME option on your generator to use the TME features. To determine if your
generator has the the TME option installed,
view the GenStats image and check the information under Options. Refer to
