Removing a power supply

To remove a power supply, complete the following steps.

1. Perform the appropriate following action based on whether the Brocade DCX 8510-4 is operating:

• If the Brocade DCX 8510-4 is not operating during the replacement procedure, go to step 2.
• If the Brocade DCX 8510-4 is operating and will continue to operate during the replacement, check

the power LEDs to verify that the minimum number of power supplies is functioning. Refer to

Providing power to the Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone

on page 27 Providing power to the

Brocade DCX 8510-4 to check your power requirements.

2. Turn off the power switch.
3. Unlatch the power cord retainer clip.
4. Remove the power cord.
5. Loosen the thumbscrew.
6. Grasp the handle and pull, sliding the power supply from the chassis and supporting the power

supply from beneath as you remove it.

Replacing a power supply

To replace a power supply, complete the following steps.

1. If you are not replacing the power supply, insert a filler panel into the slot.
2. Otherwise, insert the power supply into the slot. Verify that the power supply is seated by gently

pulling on the handle.

3. Tighten the thumbscrew.
