The User and Network ports are both configured for SFP 1000M Auto and the MPP port

is configured for UTP 1000M Full Duplex.

Link Loss Forwarding and Remote Fault are enabled on both the User and Network ports.

The Test Port setting for PM is set to Network Port only (all PM tests are run from the Net-

work Port).

None of the above items are configurable while PLPM is enabled.

The MPP Port will be enabled and messages for the MPP port will now be shown in the Message
Line and System Log.

To configure PLPM:

1. On the Network Performance screen, type 11 and press Enter. The Protected Link

Performance Monitoring screen (Figure 4-50) opens.

2. To enable or disable PLPM Admin, type 1 and press Enter. The default is Disabled.

3. To enter a PLPM Partner Test IP Address, type 2 and press Enter. The IP address allows

the PLPM protocol to communicate to the NID attached on the MPP port. This is needed
to discover the MAC address of the connected unit so that the Virtual Network Port can
be set up. The Test IP Address for each device configured using the Management IP
Configuration option. Values: Valid IP address on the same network as the local Test IP
address. The default is 0.0.0.0

4. To enter a PLCP Protocol Timeout (sec) type 3 and press Enter. Type a value between 3

and 60 seconds to program the PLCP protocol switch-over. When the PLCP Protocol
times out, the local unit will become the Active Master Unit and generate PM/SAM tests
as required. The default: is 3 seconds
