8.7 Main messages and their remedies
Main messages
Message Cause Remedy
Set paper. *1
Check Size *1
Check Type *1
Paper of a suitable size is not
loaded in a paper tray. Either select a different size or feed
paper of a suitable size from the by-
pass tray.
Remove paper. Since the maximum amount
of papers for the indicated
finisher exit tray has been ex-
ceeded, the machine is una-
ble to make prints. Remove all papers from the indicat-
ed tray.
Account Name Account track settings have
been specified. Prints cannot
be made unless an account
name and its correct pass-
word are entered. Type in your account name and
password. (See p. 3-21, p. 3-52,
and p. 3-100.)
Exceeds print limit. The limit on the number of
prints that can be made has
been reached. Contact your administrator.
Door open at xxxxxx Since a machine door or cov-
er is open or an option is not
installed correctly, the ma-
chine is unable to make
prints. Make sure that all doors and covers
are closed and that all options are
installed correctly.
Please set IU. The fusing unit is not installed
correctly. Reinstall the supplies or parts, or
contact your technical representa-
tive.
Toner Cartridge not set. The indicated toner cartridge
is not installed correctly.
Waste Toner Box not
set. The waste-toner box is not in-
stalled correctly.
Replenish paper.* 1 The indicated tray has run out
of paper. Load paper into the indicated tray.

Toner near empty. The toner for the indicated
color is about to run out. Prepare to replace the toner car-
tridge according to your mainte-
nance agreement.
Toner Empty Since the toner for the indi-
cated color has run out, the
machine is unable to make
prints. Replace the toner cartridge accord-
ing to your maintenance agreement.
Add Staple. The staples have run out. Replace the staple cartridge.

Paper Misfeed at xxxx Since a paper misfeed oc-
curred, the machine is unable
to make prints. Clear the paper misfeed.

HDD Password Error The password is incorrect. Register the correct password.
Encryption Key failure The encryption key is incor-
rect. Register the correct encryption key,
or format the HDD.
