4 Commissioning

4.1 Factory settings

All motor starters supplied by Getriebebau NORD are pre-programmed with the default setting for standard
applications with 4 pole standard motors (same voltage and power). The nominal current for the particular
motor circuit according to the type plate must be set as the nominal current in parameter P203. This can be
carried out via potentiometer P1 or by parameterisation.

NOTE

It must be noted that the DIP switch setting (S1) has priority over the parameter settings.

In addition, the settings of the integrated potentiometers P1 … P4 must be taken into account.

4.2 Commissioning the motor starter

The SK 1x5E series can be commissioned in various ways:

a) For simple applications (e.g. conveyor applications) by means of the DIP switches integrated into

the frequency device (internal) and the externally accessible P1 and P2 as well as the internal po-
tentiometers P3 and P4.

b) By adaptation of parameters using software via the ParameterBox (SK CSX-3H or SK PAR-3H) or

NORD CON PC - supported software.

In order to permanently store the parameter in the flash memory, the RAM values must be copied
from the RAM to the flash using parameter P550.

ATTENTION

DANGER TO LIFE!

The motor starter is not equipped with a mains switch and is therefore always live when
connected to the power supply. Live voltages may therefore be connected to a connected motor
at standstill.

4.2.1

Connection

After mounting on the motor, the mains and motor cables must be connected to the relevant terminals

(PE, L1, L2, L3 and U, V, W)

(see Section 2.5 and 2.6).

In addition, a 24V DC control voltage is essential

(connection to terminals 44/40).

In principle, the motor starter can be operated in this configuration. (See Section 4.2.2.1)

NOTE

The necessary 24V control voltage can be implemented by in integrated (SK CU4-…-24V) or an
external (SK TU4-…-24V) optional mains unit or a comparable power source (min. 100mA)
