Modifying I/O Registers

WARNING

MODIFYING I/O REGISTERS MAY AFFECT THE OPERATION OF CONTROLLED

MACHINERY. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE USER TO DETERMINE THE

POTENTIAL HAZARDS INVOLVED. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THESE

PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN BODILY INJURY.

The modify option is used to change the value of a register. The

register you want to modify does not need to be in the screen display

for you to modify it. Recall that if application tasks are running, the

value that you write to a register using this option may be overwritten

by one of those application tasks.
You must be familiar with how the registers on the module you are

working with are organized in order to use this option. Refer to the

documentation for the individual module for any questions on

register organization.
Follow the directions in 18.2.7.1 for modifying local I/O and in

18.2.7.2 for modifying remote I/O.
