On the AT8402, any of the AMC slots or the update channel can be
configured to be upstream or NT-port. Programming the address trans-
lation mapping to support the cross-domain traffic must be done by the
enumerating root complex!
Dual Host Mode The dual host mode is similar to the intelligent adapter mode as any
of the AMC slots or the update channel can be configured to be the
upstream port or NT-port. The difference is that this mode is designed
by PLX to provide a root-complex failover mechanism.
The root complex connected to the upstream port enumerates the com-
plete PCIe domain connected to the PEX8532. This is the working
root complex. The other root complex connected to the NT-port enu-
merates his PCIe domain stopping at the NT-port. This is the standby
root complex. In the case that the working root complex fails, the
standby root complex can detect this by a heartbeat mechanism. Now
the standby root complex can take over the upstream port from the
working root complex and continue its work without interruption. The
PEX8532 provides the ability to support this switching of the
upstream port.
This mode must be supported in the root complex operating systems
(Re-enumeration of the PCIe hierarchy etc.).
Transparent Mode In this mode, one port is set up to be the upstream port, which is
connected to the enumerating root complex. All of the other ports are
fully transparent downstream ports which are connected either to PCIe
end devices or additional PCIe switches/bridges.
On the AT8402, the upstream port can be programmed to be con-
nected to any of the AMC slots or to the update channel.
5.14.5 show boardinfo pcie
This command displays the PCI Express settings. With specifying a port the setting and
hot-plug function for the specified AMC port or update channel is displayed.
Otherwise the command displays

the setting (upstream, downstream or nt-bridge) and hot-plug function (enable/dis-
able) for all AMC ports and the update-channel port.
