o General purpose needle plate
o General purpose foot

Many zig-zag stitch patterns are just as useful

for mending as they are for creative sevring.
The multi-stiich zig-zag forrrts a firm, flexible

bond that is ideal for repairing tears.

1. Trim ragged edges.

2.

Place underlay on the wrong side of tear

for reinforcement. (Do not baste or pin the

underlay, since you wlH be bringing the

edges together in the next step.)

3. Stitch on the right side, bringing the edges

of the tear together. Shorten stitch length
at ends and corners to give extra strength.

4. Trim underlay.
