Accessing the Discs

The StorPoint CD makes your networked CD/DVDs available to anyone who
has the appropriate privileges on the network. Users will access the StorPoint
CD just as any other file server.

You use your standard NetWare client to access the networked discs:

❏ The examples will assume that you have not changed the default server

name. The default server name is AXIS<nnnnnn>_NW, where <nnnnnn>
are the six last digits of the StorPoint CD serial number. If you have
changed the server name, use the new name where the examples refer to the
default name.

❏ Depending on the access rights set up by the Administrator, you might be

prompted to supply a password or receive a message similar to ‘

Access is

denied

’ when trying to access a shared resource on the StorPoint CD. The

default Server password is

pass

.

❏ In the Windows 95/98/2000/ME and Windows NT 4 environments, you

can install the AXIS StorPoint Disco utility, which is a powerful Windows
application for locating and using CD/DVDs located on AXIS storage
servers, wherever they are on your network. Refer toAXIS StorPoint
DISCO
” on page 93.

General Disc Settings

To specify the general settings for an inserted disc, follow these steps:

1. Start your Web browser, and enter the name or IP address of the StorPoint

CD in the location/address field.

2. Click admin. You will be prompted for the Server password. By default, this

is set to

pass

.

3. Click Discs & Drives.

4. Locate the desired disc in the file Volumes folder.
