ELITE SERIES USER MANUAL

ENHANCED CP/M UTIL.

fined under CP/M and what type of already for-

matted diskette you have in the drive.

Normally FORMAT will detect an already formatted

16-sector diskette (including DOS 3.3 and Apple

Pascal diskettes), but given certain circum-

stances it may not. Therefore, you should not

rely upon this check. If FORMAT does find the

diskette to be already formatted, it will say:

Disk in drive d>: will be ERASED.

Continue (Y/N)?

If you reply <Y><RETURN>, FORMAT will go ahead

and format the diskette (erasing everything that

was on the diskette, for ever and ever). If you

reply <N><RETURN>, FORMAT will return to the

“which disk?” question without formatting the

diskette.

Once you let FORMAT go ahead and do its job, it

will say:

Formatting...

The time it takes to format a diskette varies

directly with the type of format FORMAT has to

perform. Disk II formats are done in about 30

seconds (because there’s not much to do). A

full Elite Three format can take well over a

full minute (there is four times the storage to

he formatted than what is necessary for a Disk

II).

Eventually, you will get:
