The flapper valve allows controlled air to escape from the XDS
Process Analytics Instrument enclosure. The air exits through a
spark arrestor, as shown. With the cover in place, this serves as a
safe exit for purge gases.
Do not disassemble the vent housing except as specifically
instructed. This is not a user-serviceable item. Any alteration to the
vent assembly will void the protection provided by the purging
system.

Power-up Instructions:

These are the instructions provided on the BEBCO panel. Definitions follow, for new users. Note the
Enclosure Pressure Gauge, which is marked with areas “Low,” “Safe” and “High.” In step 5, the user
is instructed to set a safe pressure – this refers to the “Safe” area of the Enclosure Pressure Gauge.

Once a safe pressure is established, a timing sequence for air exchange is initiated. When this
sequence is complete, the XDS Process Analytics Instrument will be powered on.

With Electronic Power Control Unit (EPCU) power de-

energized, RET timer set & BEBCO purging system air
supply on

2.

Carefully test operation of Enclosure Protection Vent &

seal enclosure.

3.

Energize EPCU power, witness LED self-test, wait for

system warm-up.

4.

Remove key from locked position in Rapid Exchange

Control valve stem. (See close-up photo.)

5.

Open Enclosure Pressure Control Valve Slowly to set a

safe pressure.

6.

Return key to Rapid Exchange Control Valve Stem & lock

firmly in place.

7.

Rapid Exchange Solenoid Valve will automatically engage

within 10 seconds.

8.

When Rapid Exchange pressure & flow are detected, RET

Timer will start.

9.

Rapid Exchange Solenoid Valve will disengage upon RET

Timer completion.

10.

EPCU will automatically energize enclosure power upon

RET timer completion.

11.

EPCU will automatically de-energize enclosure power

upon loss of safe pressure.
