The monochromator is mounted on wire rope
shock mountings to absorb vibration and assure
a low noise instrument. One of these wire rope
shock mounts is shown at right.

The instrument must be operated in the upright
position to take advantage of the shock
mounting.

The thumbscrew to the left of this wire rope
mount is a shipping lockdown. It should be
locked down when transporting the instrument.
It must be released when operating.

The door has a safety interlock switch to
automatically power down upon opening of the
enclosure.

This photo shows the activation blade of the
switch at the left side, on the inside of the door.

The white interlock switch is attached to the
chassis of the instrument, at right.

A manual key is provided for the interlock switch,
for use during initial set-up. This key is red, and is
shaped like the letter “I”.

To insert the key, place it horizontally into the
opening, then rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, to
the position shown.

The internal components are designed for ease of
service. This is performed only by qualified,
trained personnel. This photo shows the slide
mounting for the internal monochromator, which
makes service quite straightforward.

It is important that the source fiber, ribbon cable,
and other connections be disconnected before
sliding the monochromator out, or damage will
occur to sensitive components.

Each sliding assembly has a lockdown to prevent
inadvertent movement by non-qualified
personnel.
