Typically the user will complete a full set of tests on
one multiplexer channel before proceeding to the
next. If this is the case, proceed to Instrument
Calibration. The Interactance Reflectance Probe Barrel
should be left in place for Instrument Calibration.

It is helpful to keep a checklist of what tests were
performed on each channel, to be sure no tests are
omitted.

If proceeding to Reference Standardization on the
next channel, it must be selected. From the menu bar,
click on Acquire, then Select Channel. Use the spinner
to select the correct channel, then click on “OK”.

This must be performed for each channel. Always
verify the channel before proceeding with the test.

Note that cleanliness of the probe window is very important when this program is run. If the window
is not extremely clean, the character of the window contamination will be imparted to the reference
correction. Therefore, maintain a clean window at all times.

10.3.3

Instrument Calibration, Interactance Immersion

First select the channel. From the menu bar, click on
Acquire, then Select Channel. Use the spinner to select the
correct channel, then click on “OK”.

This must be performed for each channel. Always verify
the channel before proceeding with the test.

Instrument Calibration uses a traceable,
stable, standard, of known wavelength
response, as a method to establish
wavelength scale response of the instrument.

The instrument is set to scan the standard,
and the nominal peak positions for each
major absorption are determined. Vision
performs an algorithm to set the peak
positions of the instrument to those of the
standard. These adjustments are saved, and
are applied on each subsequent scan of the
instrument, yielding a correct spectrum.
