Troubleshooting the Multifunction finisher/Face down offset stapler

This section describes how to troubleshoot problems related to the multifunction finisher and face down offset stapler.

Problem

Possible Cause and Action to Take

The multifunction finisher/face down offset
stapler does not operate.

Make sure that the power plug has been properly inserted into the
electrical outlet.

Make sure that the printer and multifunction finisher have been securely
connected by the cord.

Make sure that the main power of the printer is on.

Turn the printer off and then on again. If the multifunction finisher/face
down offset stapler still does not operate, contact your dealer (or
authorized service representative).

In copy mode, the paper is stapled at the
wrong position.

The orientation of the loaded original does not match the [Original
orientation] setting on the [Staple/Punch] screen.

Align the orientation of the original with the [Original orientation] setting
on the [Staple/Punch] screen.

⇒ Copy mode screen X [Functions] X [Staple/Punch] X

set [Original orientation]

[Auto-Rotate] has not been set to [ON].

When [Auto-Rotate] has not been set to [ON], the machine cannot staple
or punch the paper at the correct position. Set to [ON].

⇒ Copy mode screen X [Functions] X [Auto-Rotate]

Staples do not go through well, e.g., they
bend or crush. / Paper is not output from
the face down offset stapler.
