Troubleshooting the High capacity stacker

This section describes how to troubleshoot problems you may have when connecting the optional high capacity stacker.

Problem

Possible Cause and Action to Take

There is no paper in the high capacity
feeder, but the standard tray stops halfway
to the bottom.

To lower the standard tray, press the standard tray descent button.
Each time you press the standard tray descent button, the standard tray
lowers to the position of the next lower sensor.
If you continue to press the standard tray descent button, the standard
tray lowers to the position to which you wish to lower the tray.

The position where the standard tray goes down when there
is no paper in the high capacity feeder or you press the
standard tray descent button can be set in the "Admin.
Settings".

You cannot adjust the paper guides;
therefore, sheets are not in neat order
because they are bent or crinkled.

If you load many sheets at a time, you cannot adjust the paper guides,
and they cannot be correctly loaded. (They are not in neat order because
they are bend or crinkled) First load a package of paper, and then load
the rest after adjusting the paper guides. If you need to set many sheets
at a time, see "If you load many sheets at a time" in the "Basic
Guide"
.

Problem

Possible Cause and Action to Take

The stacking tray cannot lower; therefore,
you cannot remove printouts easily.

To lower the stacking tray, press the stacking tray descent button.
If you press the stacking tray descent button, the stacking tray lowers to
the position where the carriage is set (the lowest).

• While the stacking tray is lowering, press the stacking tray

descent button to stop the stacking tray.

• Press the stacking tray descent button when both the right

and left covers are closed.

• The position where the stacking tray goes down when

printing is completed or suspended can be set in the
"Admin. Settings".

The machine cannot print continuously; the
stacking tray lowers each time a job is
printed.

The location of the stacking tray is set to [Down to the carriage] or
[Down to the specified point] when finished printing.

When [High capacity stacker] in the "Admin. Settings" is set to [Do not
lower stacking tray.], the stacking tray does not lower. Contact your
administrator for details.
