Troubleshooting the IC card reader

This section describes how to troubleshoot common problems when using the optional IC card reader.

Problem

Possible Cause and Action to Take

Unable to login using the IC card.

Check whether the IC card is being used with another card in the same
case. If the cards interfere with one another, you may not be able to login
using the IC card.

Make sure that the IC card is correctly placed above the card reader. If
the IC card is too far from the IC card reader, the IC card is not
recognized, resulting in authentication failure.

Check that the USB cable of the IC card reader has been properly
connected. If it has not been properly connected, you may not be able to
login using the IC card.

Make sure that the administrator has registered your IC card. The IC
card must be registered by the administrator in advance.

A registered IC card is missing.

Contact the administrator as soon as possible.
The IC card allows the user to login to the machine and print documents.
An unauthorized third party can assume your identity and access data by
using your IC card. If you notice you have lost your card, contact your
administrator immediately.
