Manual control procedure

Manual control displays the reference microphone SPL, the coupler microphone SPL, their difference in dB
(gain) and coupler microphone signal distortion at any selected 1/12th octave frequency and at a selected input
level from 40 to 90 dB (in 5 dB steps) and at 0 dB (off).

Manual control allows the use of the 2cc HA-1 coupler or the 0.4cc Audioscan Wideband Coupler (AWC). The
HA-1 coupler is not useful at high frequencies because of resonances and low signal levels. The use of the
AWC is desirable because it raises the high frequency SPL of the hearing aid by more than 20 dB, making the
rising noise floor of the coupler microphone less significant.

1. Open the home menu using the right mouse button. Select [Manual control] from the Test box list.

2. Click on the Level window and select the desired stimulus level from the drop-down list.

3. Click on the Frequency window and select the desired frequency from the drop-down list. (Distortion

measurement data is available only from 200-4000 Hz.)

4. Click on [Start test] to start the test. [Start test] changes to [Stop Test]. To stop the measurement, click [Stop

test]. You may change Level and Frequency without stopping the test.
