WRECD results

The WRECD measurement screen shows the response of the WRECD transducer in the 0.4cc coupler (1)

and in the real ear (2). The difference between these curves is the WRECD (3). The age-appropriate
average WRECD is shown for reference (4).

Since WRECD uses the 0.4cc coupler rather than 2cc, it is normal to see negative numbers since the volume
of the wideband coupler more closely matches that of an ear. A WRECD with large negative slope in the
low frequencies may indicate a poor seal between the foam tip and the ear canal, or an open vent in an
earmold. A negative WRECD above 1 kHz often indicates a blocked or pinched probe tube. See WRECD
facts.

WRECD protocols

To facilitate wideband Test box Speechmap, the Verifit 2 requires a WRECD. For threshold corrections in the
HL-to-SPL transform, the 0.4cc WRECD is converted to an HA-1 RECD or an HA-2 RECD including tubing
effects, based on whether the stated HL transducer is Insert+foam or Insert+mold respectively. If the RECD was
measured with an earmold, these tubing effects will be specific to the client’s earmold; if it is measured with a
