Offset: The offset is the location in the sign’s RTD buffer where the horn control is
placed. For information on the location of the horn control, refer to the RTD item
number definition of the RTD source. The default offset is zero-based.

i

The offset for RTD input in the Venus 1500 software can be customized to meet

individual customer needs. From the Editor Defaults dialog box (refer to Section
5.16
), select either Zero based or One based for the desired offset.

The user can determine the current setting by observing the text located to the right of
the offset parameter in the RTD configuration dialog boxes as shown in Section
5.12.1
.

The Venus 4600/6500 and Venus 7000 controllers use an “item number” for RTD
offset. Unlike the Venus 1500, the item number is one-based. If you are operating a
system using both the Venus 1500 and another Venus controller, be aware of this
difference.

Note: Extended RTD fields are used for

custom applications. Refer to the Venus 1500
Software Developers Kit for details.

Extended RTD fields are used for changing RTD
fields’ font, color and flashing parameters
without needing to edit and re-send an existing
message. The fields are updated in the same
manner as the RTD information to be displayed.

Caution: Extended RTD utilizes four bytes prior to the actual RTD information.
Caution must be taken to avoid overwriting this information.

horn control for each frame in any message. This control requires the user to have a horn
installed in the sign.
The horn will cycle with an “on” and an “off” time equal to the number of
1/10th second defined as the length of the horn. The cycle will repeat for the “number of
cycles” defined in the dialog box.

Length of Horn: The length of horn is the length of
time the horn will sound and is measured in 1/10th
of a second. i.e. A setting of 4 will sound the horn
for 4/10 of a second.

Number of Cycles: The number of cycles refers to
the number of times the horn should sound.

Once the parameters have been selected, click on the
check mark

q to enter the field into the frame, or select
