MAINTENANCE

Cleaning

The Envelope Imager CS

WARNING

THE PRINTER IS A PRECISION MACHINE THAT SHOULD BE CLEANED
REGULARLY TO INSURE MANY YEARS OF SERVICE. BEFORE PERFORMING
ANY MAINTENANCE DISCONNECT THE MACHINE FROM ITS POWER SOURCE!

CAUTION

NEVER SPRAY OR POUR CLEANERS DIRECTLY ON OR INTO THE
PRINTER. EXCESS LIQUID COULD HARM ELECTRONIC PARTS. ALWAYS
DAMPEN A RAG WITH THE CLEANER AND APPLY IT TO THE PARTS TO BE
CLEANED.

Paper dust, ink, and ink overspray will accumulate within the printer and on the transport rollers.
The printer must be cleaned regularly of accumulated paper dust and ink. Printer cleaning frequency will
depend on the types of media, types of print jobs, and amount of use.

Unplug the printer from the power receptacle before cleaning.

The internal areas of the printer are best cleaned by a qualified service technician. Minor customer
maintenance can be performed using compressed air (canned air). Take care not to damage the PC Boards
or electrical wiring when cleaning.
Ink overspray accumulation, inside the printer, should be cleaned by a qualified service technician.

If a paper misfeed occurs during the printing process; ink that misses the media will accumulate below the
print area, on the table-top of the printer. This area can be cleaned using a soft cloth that has been lightly
dampened with water.

It is normal to see ink accumulation, on the body of the printer, near the exhaust area of the fan.
The exterior of the machine may be cleaned with a soft cloth that has been lightly dampened with water or
any standard household cleaner which is non-abrasive and does not contain plastic harming solvents.

Tip: Every time the printer’s main power switch is turned on, the printer must perform a high level
cleaning function before it can begin printing. This process consumes ink and will increase the need for
more frequent printer maintenance (cleaning). To reduce ink consumption and printer cleaning needs; it is
suggested that you leave the printer’s main power switch on, if you plan to use the printer again within 24
hours. The fan continuously runs when the main power switch is on. If you don’t plan to use the printer
again within 24 hours; it is recommended that you turn off the printer’s main power switch.

Feed Rollers and Forwarding Rollers

Unplug the printer from the power receptacle before cleaning.

The feed and forwarding rollers can become glazed with paper lint and ink from the media. They should be
regularly cleaned with a mild abrasive household cleaner on a damp cloth.

Avoid using solvents on the rubber rollers.
