Chapter 5 Removing and replacing FRUs

CPU motherboard replacement

Use the following checklist to guide you through the replacement process.

system-specific network
settings.

Use standard Windows procedures to view and write down
settings as applicable for the control network, the FTP/
Streaming network, SNMP, custom accounts, etc. Also
copy C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts to a
different location.
You must restore network settings later in this process.

current versions of K2
software and SNFS.

. Write down versions.

You must reinstall software later in this process.

you have the 50 MB option.

You must reapply the 50 MB option later in this process.

If system is operational, note
current Grass Valley licenses.

Click on the License Manager icon on the Windows
Desktop. Write down license types, as listed in the
“Feature” column.
Because the replacement motherboard’s MAC address is
different than the faulty motherboard’s MAC address, you
must obtain new licenses based on the new MAC address,
as instructed later in this process.

If system is operational, save
configuration files.

Copy C:\profile\config to a different location.

If a SAN client, note settings
then remove from K2 Storage
System.

Refer to the K2 Media Client System Guide for K2 System
Configuration application procedures. Write down all
settings, then remove.
You must add the K2 Media Client back to the K2 Storage
System later in this process.

Install your existing USB
RS-422 adapters into rear
panel slots 1 and 7.

Re-image the C: partition

“Restoring from a recovery disk image CD set” on page 76

except restore only the C: partition. Use the K2 Service Disk
Image CD set that you received with the motherboard FRU
kit. Do not use any other disk image. Do not use a disk
image that has SNFS already installed.
