SMC TigerSwitch 10/100# show snmp-server public
Configuring Identity Information
This command enables you to enter contact-person and location data to help
identify the switch.
Syntax:
snmp-server [contact <contact-str>] [location <location-str>]
Both fields allow up to 48 characters, without spaces.
For example, to configure the switch with “Site-LAN-Ext.449” and a location
of “Level-2-North,” you would execute the following command:
SMC TigerSwitch 10/100(config)# snmp-server contact Site-LANExt.449 location
Level-2-North
Configuring Community Names and Values
If you enter a community name without an
operator or manager designation,
the switch automatically assigns the community to Operator for the MIB view.
Also, if you do not specify restricted or unrestricted for the read/write MIB
access, the switch automatically restricts the community to read access for
the MIB.
Adding SNMP Communities in the Switch.
The following SNMP com-
mand examples use
add snmp to add new SNMP communities:
Syntax:
snmp-server community <community-name>
[operator | manager]
[restricted | unrestricted]
SMC TigerSwitch 10/100(config)# snmp-server community
red-team manager unrestricted
SMC TigerSwitch 10/100(config)# snmp-server community
blue-team operator restricted
