Checking play in the gas Bowden cable

ದ Move the handlebar to the straight-ahead position. Move the throttle grip back and
forth slightly to ascertain the play in the gas Bowden cable.
Play in gas Bowden cable 3… 5 bmm (0.12… 0.2bin)
» If the gas Bowden cable play does not meet specifications:
ದ Adjust the gas Bowden cable play. ( P. 50)
Danger
Danger of poisoning ಘExhaust gases are poisonous and can result in uncon-
sciousness and/or death.
ದ When running the engine, always make sure there is sufficient ventila-
tion, and do not start or run the engine in a closed space.
ದ Start the engine and let it run idle. Move the handlebar to and fro over the entire
steering range.
The idle speed must not change.
» If the idle speed changes:
ದ Adjust the gas Bowden cable play. ( P. 50)

ದ Dismount the fuel tank. ( P. 70)
ದ Check gas Bowden cable route. ( P. 49)

ದ Move the handlebar to the straight-ahead position.
ದ Push back bellows b  .
ದ Loosen nut b  . Turn adjusting screw b  in as far as possible.
ದ Loosen nut b  . Turn adjusting screw b  so that there is play in the gas Bowden ca-
ble at the throttle grip.
Specification
Play in gas Bowden cable 3… 5 bmm (0.12… 0.2bin)
ದ Tighten nut b  .
ದ Press and hold the throttle grip in the closed setting. Turn adjusting screw b  out
until there is no play in the Bowden cable b .
ದ Tighten nut b  .
ದ Push bellows b  on. Check the throttle grip for smooth operation.
ದ Install the fuel tank. ( P. 70)
ದ Check play in the gas Bowden cable. ( P. 50)

Checking chain dirt
ದ Check the chain for coarse dirt accumulation.
» If the chain is very dirty:
ದ Clean the chain. ( P. 50)

Cleaning the chain

Danger of accidents ಘOil or grease on the tires reduces their grip.
ದ Remove oil and grease with a suitable cleaning material.

Danger of accidents ಘReduced braking due to oil or grease on the brake discs.
ದ Always keep the brake discs free of oil and grease, and clean them with brake cleaner when necessary.

Environmental hazard ಘProblem materials cause environmental damage.
ದ Dispose of oil, grease, filters, fuel, cleaning substances, brake fluid, batteries, etc. according to regulations.
