Appendix D: List of Parameters

Speed 1 — In the 5-speed temperature control scheme in continuous flow, a read-only value that is equal
to the reference speed minus the outer speed offset. Adjusting this value incrementally does not alter the
value of the offset that is set in the 5-Speed Temperature (Continuous Flow) window.

Moisture Control Mode (Control Menu)

Continuous Flow — A drying mode where grain enters and exits the dryer in one continuous, uninter-
rupted cycle.

Staged Batch — A drying mode comprised of three distinct phases, where only a portion of the grain is
loaded, dried, and unloaded at a single time.

Moisture Control Mode (Continuous Flow Control Schemes)

1-Speed Temperature — The control scheme that allows you to set one metering roll speed and the grain
temperature setpoint. If the grain temperature is equal to, or rises 1°F (0.56°C) above its setpoint, the
metering rolls turn at the set speed setting; 1°F (0.56°C) below the setpoint, the metering rolls automati-
cally stop turning.

2-Speed Temperature — The control scheme that allows you to set a low and high metering roll speed
and the grain temperature setpoint to control your dryer’s unload rate. If the grain temperature rises 1°F
(0.56°C) above its setpoint, the metering rolls turn at the high speed setting; 1°F (0.56°C) below the set-
point, the low speed setting is used.

5-Speed Temperature — The control scheme that allows you to set one reference metering roll speed,
two temperature offsets, two speed offsets, and a grain temperature setpoint. As the grain temperature
rises or drops, the metering roll speed increases or decreases, respectively, according to the preset
parameters.

5-Speed Moisture — The control scheme that allows you to set one reference metering roll speed, two
moisture offsets, two speed offsets, and a dry grain moisture setpoint. As the grain moisture rises or drops,
the metering roll speed decreases or increases, respectively, according to the preset parameters.

Moisture Control Mode (Staged Batch Control Schemes)

Time — The control scheme that uses a timer to establish the duration of the drying phase.

Temperature — The control scheme that uses the grain temperature setpoint to establish the duration of
the drying phase.

Time and Temperature — The control scheme that uses the drying time and grain temperature setpoint to
establish the duration of the drying phase. The drying phase ends only once the drying time has elapsed
and the grain setpoint is reached.

Dual-Setpoint Time — The control scheme that exposes grain to two different drying temperatures. The
plenum temperature switches from one setpoint to the other after a predetermined time.

Dual-Setpoint Temperature — The control scheme that exposes grain to two different drying tempera-
tures. The plenum temperature switches from one setpoint to the other once the grain temperature reaches
a predetermined setpoint.

Moisture Control Settings: 1-Speed Temperature (Continuous Flow)

Unload Speeds Entered in — The units of measure (bushels or metric tons per hour, or metering roll
speed %) that the unload speed value is entered in.
