Temperature Control Schemes in Staged Batch

If you use the grain temperature as the drying phase’s control parameter in staged batch, you can apply
different drying strategies simply by adjusting the fan and heater switches and all applicable timers
accordingly.

Drying Strategies for the Temperature Schemes in Staged Batch

Full-heat versus dry and cool: Choose a full-heat strategy if you want grain to be unloaded hot and

uncooled; choose dry and cool if you want to cool the grain inside the dryer before the unloading
phase.

Manual versus automatic when using full-heat: Choose manual mode (fans and heaters in the On

position) if you want the fans and heaters to continue running during the unloading phase in the full-
heat operation; otherwise, choose automatic mode (fans and heaters in the Auto position).

Manual versus automatic when using dry and cool: Choose manual mode (fans and heaters in

the On position) if you want the cooling fans to continue running during the unloading phase in the
dry and cool operations; otherwise, choose automatic mode (fans and heaters in the Auto position).

Single-setpoint versus dual-setpoint control schemes: Choose a single-setpoint control scheme

if you want plenum temperatures to remain the same during the entire drying phase, or select a dual-
setpoint scheme to have the plenum temperatures switch from one value to another at a specific
point during the drying phase.
