Ensuring Dryer Shutdowns When Supply Is Out of Grain
To have the dryer stop when the wet grain storage bin empties, you can increase the out of grain timer if it
elapses before the dryer is full, or decrease it if the load auger keeps turning long after the wet grain
supply has been depleted.
Before You Begin
Make sure that the Load Auger switch on the control panel is in the Auto position. For information on the
out of grain timer’s role in the automatic loading sequence, see

grain timer is only active in auto mode and if the load auger is turning.
What You Should Know
The purpose of the out of grain timer is to stop the dryer when the wet grain storage bin is out of grain.
During the loading process, the out of grain timer begins once the load auger starts to turn in auto mode,
and resets to its default setting once the dryer is full. If the timer elapses, the dryer assumes that the
supply of wet grain is depleted and an out of grain shutdown occurs. Ideally, when the wet grain supply is
depleted, the out of grain timer elapses before dryer’s grain level drops below the upper edge of the grain
column. If this occurs, the dryer no longer detects airflow and a shutdown message is displayed onscreen.
Consider the following factors when setting the out of grain timer:
• The load delay setting
The out of grain timer starts once the load delay ends and the load auger starts to turn.
• The dryer’s unload speed
The speed that the dry grain is unloaded determines the time it takes to make room in the dryer wet
bin, which in turn, determines when the load delay starts.
• The speed that the loading mechanism fills the dryer wet bin
A fast speed requires a shorter timer setting. A slow speed requires a longer timer setting, so that the
dryer does not stop before the dryer wet bin is full.
To set the out of grain timer:
1. From the menu pane, click Load→Out of Grain Timer.
2. Set the following parameter:
