Chapter 7: The Continuous Flow Drying Process
IMPORTANT: To stop the dryer when connected remotely, click Stop Dryer from the main menu.
However, once stopped, you cannot restart it remotely. The dryer can only be
restarted on-site.
2. From the menu pane, click Control→Moisture Control Mode.
3. Select Continuous Flow.
4. Select one of the following control schemes:
1-Speed Temperature — The control scheme that allows you to set one metering roll speed and the
grain temperature setpoint. If the grain temperature is equal to, or rises 1°F (0.56°C) above its set-
point, the metering rolls turn at the set speed setting; 1°F (0.56°C) below the setpoint, the metering
rolls automatically stop turning.
2-Speed Temperature — The control scheme that allows you to set a low and high metering roll
speed and the grain temperature setpoint to control your dryer’s unload rate. If the grain temperature
rises 1°F (0.56°C) above its setpoint, the metering rolls turn at the high speed setting; 1°F (0.56°C)
below the setpoint, the low speed setting is used.
5-Speed Temperature — The control scheme that allows you to set one reference metering roll
speed, two temperature offsets, two speed offsets, and a grain temperature setpoint. As the grain
temperature rises or drops, the metering roll speed increases or decreases, respectively, according
to the preset parameters.
5-Speed Moisture — The control scheme that allows you to set one reference metering roll speed,
two moisture offsets, two speed offsets, and a dry grain moisture setpoint. As the grain moisture rises
or drops, the metering roll speed decreases or increases, respectively, according to the preset
parameters.
5. Set the drying parameters for your chosen control scheme:
• To set parameters for the 1-speed temperature control scheme, see Setting the 1-Speed Tem-
perature Scheme in Continuous Flow, page 58 .
• To set parameters for the 2-speed temperature control scheme, see Setting the 2-Speed Tem-
perature Scheme in Continuous Flow, page 59 .
• To set parameters for the 5-speed temperature control scheme, see Setting the 5-Speed Tem-
perature Scheme in Continuous Flow, page 60 .
• To set parameters for the 5-Speed moisture control scheme, see Setting the 5-Speed Moisture
Scheme in Continuous Flow, page 61 .
6. Configure the plenum temperature setpoints, see Setting the Plenum Temperature Range, page 35 .
7. On the control panel, place the Load Auger and Unload Auger switches to Auto.
8. Press Start on the control panel.
Setting the 1-Speed Temperature Scheme in Continuous Flow
To have the metering rolls turn only when the set grain temperature is attained, you can select the 1-speed
temperature control scheme. Depending on the grain temperature, the metering rolls either turn or do not.
Before You Begin
Make sure to select the 1-Speed Temperature control scheme in the Moisture Control Mode window (see
Drying Grain in Continuous Flow, page 57 for details).
