next action by observing Power-On Self-
Test (POST) progress and error messages.

Refer to the Compaq Servers
Troubleshooting Guide
for a complete
description of each POST error message.

No

Video may not be connected properly.

Switches may not be set correctly on the
system board.

A processor has failed.

A Processor Power Module (PPM) has failed,
or is not seated properly.

Is a video board installed? Make sure the
video cable is properly connected.

Verify the video connections. Refer to
“Video Problems” in the Compaq Servers
Troubleshooting Guide
.

Verify the switch settings on the system
board. See “System Board Switches” in
Appendix D.

Are there any audible indicators, such as a
series of beeps? A series of beeps will be
the audible signal indicating the presence
of a POST error message. Refer to the
Compaq Servers Troubleshooting Guide for
a complete description of each beep
sequence, and the corresponding error
messages.

Remove a single processor and the
corresponding Processor Power Module.

Try reseating them firmly.

If this does not solve the problem,

replace with a known good processor
and Processor Power Module to
identify the bad component.
