Appliance wa-1, for example, receives its configuration information from the Base
and CIFS groups, which are defined by the Base and CIFS profiles. Appliance wa-1
reports to the all group, the CIFS group, and the Europe group.

HP EFS WAN Accelerator Auto-Registration
HP EFS WAN Accelerators must be registered with the HP EFS WAN Accelerator
Manager so that you can monitor and manage them with HP EFS WAN Accelerator
Manager tools.
HP EFS WAN Accelerators are programmed to send a registration request periodically
to the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager—either to an IP address or host name you
specify when you run the HP EFS WAN Accelerator installation wizard, or to a default
HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager host name. In order for registration with the
default host name to work, you must configure your DNS server to map hpwam to the
IP address of the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager.
The steps you take to register HP EFS WAN Accelerators with the HP EFS WAN
Accelerator Manager depend on the order in which you install the products.
If you install the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager before you connect the HP
EFS WAN Accelerators:
1. Set up a DHCP server to assign IP addresses in your network.
2. Install the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager.
3. Use the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager to create the profile and group
configuration objects you will use to manage the HP EFS WAN Accelerators in
your system:
‹ Create common profiles and appliance-specific profiles. For details, see
“Using Profiles” on page 38 .
‹ Create groups and assign appliances to the groups. Enable auto-configuration
and configuration push features. For details, see
“Using Groups” on page 68 .
‹ Review the appliance configuration, add additional CLI commands (if any),
and check the Configuration Ready check box. For details, see
“Configuring
Remote Appliances” on page 72 .
4. Use the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager to complete the registration entries for
remote appliances. Registration entries specify:
‹ the serial number of the appliance
‹ the user name and password of the account through which the configuration
must be performed (defaults are admin and password)
