Assigning
Appliances to
Groups

You assign HP EFS WAN Accelerators to groups in the Organize Appliances page.

An appliance can belong to more than one group. For example, you might assign an
appliance to one or more configuration-based groups (for example, a CIFS group and
a MAPI group) and one or more reporting-based groups (for example, an ASIASTATS
group and a EUROPESTATS group).

Any given appliance can be auto-registered, have backups taken, accept pushed
configurations or allow the collection of statistics.

If an appliance specific setting for each of those possible appliance interactions is not
set the HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager determines which of those actions are
desired by looking at those settings for all the groups to which the appliance belongs.

For auto-configuration, backups, and statistics if any of the groups to which the
appliance belongs has the action enabled the action is allowed for the appliance. On
the other hand, for configuration push all the groups containing the appliance must
have this property set to true.

Again, the determination of the availability or occurrence of those actions can be
overridden on an appliance by appliance basis.

For detailed information about the relationship between profiles, groups, and
appliances, see

“HP EFS WAN Accelerator Manager Configuration Objects” on

page 16

.
