Materials Clean-Out
Main Seed Box Clean-Out
A complete main seed clean-out involves emptying the
seed box, the sliding seed tubes and the meters.
1. If a large quantity of seed remains, use a scoop or
bucket to remove most of it from the top of the box.
2. Use a brush to sweep the remaining seed toward an
outside end row unit.
3. If a vacuum is available, use it to empty the box.
4. If Singulator Plus meters are installed, raise the drill.
These meters drain through the lower seed tube.
Finger meter clean-out may be done with the drill
raised or lowered. These meters drain through the
clean-out door on the side of the meter.
If a suitable collection tarp is available, position it under
the rows, or a group of rows.
If only a small tarp, or buckets, are available, drain rows
one at a time or in small numbers.
5. Open the meter clean-outs and drain the seed in the
sliding seed tube and the meter body. Uncouple
each meter and rotate the wheel or finger set. See
page 107 or page 109 for details.
6. To fully empty a meter, it is necessary to remove it
and invert it. In the case of Singulator Plus meters,
you can alternatively remove the seed wheel and
vacuum the meter cavity.
7. Secure the drill for Parking (page 33) or Storage
(page 33).
Small Seeds Box Clean-Out
1. Open lid of each box and scoop out as much seed as
possible.
2. To recover remaining seed, place a collection tarp
under the small seeds tubes at the openers.
3. Raise drill.
4. Set seed rate handles to 100.
5. Rotate gauge wheels until no seed flows.
6. If a vacuum cleaner is available, remove any residual
seed from top of meters.
