Parking

For information on long-term storage, refer to “Storage”,
next topic.

1.

Empty Main Seed and Fertilizer box before
unhitching drill to prevent drill from falling backward.
See “Materials Clean-Out” on page 104.

Note: For parking with drill attached to an accessory

hitch, refer to your hitch operator’s manual.

2.

Unload Small Seeds box:
See “Small Seeds Box Clean-Out” on page 104.
Thoroughly clean seed and seed-treatment residue
from boxes and seed meters.

3.

Park drill on a level, solid surface.

4.

If drill is equipped with parking stands, install them.
See page 13.

5.

Lower three-point hitch until drill is on the ground.

6.

Disconnect electrical harnesses.

7.

Set hydraulic circuits to float and disconnect any
hydraulic connections to the drill.

8.

If not using Quick Hitch, extend or retract the top link
of the tractor until top three-point pin is free. Remove
pin.

9.

If not using Quick Hitch, remove pins from lower
links.

Storage

1.

Store the drill where children do not play. If possible,
store the drill inside for longer life.

2.

Perform the Parking checklist, above.

3.

Clean out singulating seed meters. Remove them
from drill and store them in sealed containers.

4.

Plug or cap delivery tubes to prevent pest entry and
nesting.

5.

Remove any dirt and debris that can hold moisture
and cause corrosion.

6.

Lubricate and adjust all roller chains.

7.

Lubricate areas noted at “Lubrication” starting on
page 116.

8.

Inspect drill for worn or damaged parts. Make repairs
and service during the off season.

9.

Use spray paint to cover scratches, chips and worn
areas on the drill to protect the metal.

10. Cover with a tarp if stored outside.
