7.

In the Appendix of this manual, consult the row
spacing reference data for your drill configuration.
Note the number of tire rotations per acre.

Simulate the ground speed for the intended seeding.
See the table on page 40 for the gauge wheel rpm to
use for that speed.

8.

Rotate the gauge wheel for the number of turns for
one acre or hectare. If you are using standard
spacing, you can use the acremeter to tally acres
simulated.

You can also rotate the gauge wheel jackshaft by
means of a wrench or socket, on the drill side that
does not have the acremeter. When turning the
gauge wheel jackshaft, count tire rotations, as the
axle and jackshaft sprockets are not 1:1

9.

Weigh metered material.

10. Subtract initial empty weight of container(s).

11. Divide by three to obtain the row rate.

12. Multiply by the number of openers on your drill to

determine total pounds applied per acre.

13. If this figure is different than desired, set your

fertilizer rate adjuster accordingly.

Note: You may want to repeat the calibration procedure if

your results vary greatly from the rate chart.

When drilling, check material rate by noting acres drilled,
amount of material added to drill and material level in drill
box. If you are applying more or less than desired, adjust
rate slightly to compensate for field conditions.

Example (step 7):
Drill: 2510HDP-2910
Tire rotations: 229/acre; 566/hectare

Example (step 9):
Assume container plus material weighs:
7.3 pounds

Example (step 10):
6.2 = 7.3 - 1.1
